Hot Chip: from block party to Merriweather

July 17, 2012

Still searching for a sizzling show this summer? On Sunday, July 22, Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells, and James Murphy will be bringing the heat to Merriweather Post Pavilion.

Sleigh Bells is a Brooklyn, NY based “noise pop” duo consisting of Alexis Krauss (vocals) and Derek Miller (guitar). Their sophomore album, Reign of Terror is one of the best albums of 2012, and received remarkably high ratings on Pitchfork.

James Murphy, former frontman and singer of LCD Soundsystem, has been DJ-ing solo on the road since last year. At some point this month, Murphy will be showing his documentary about dismantling LCD Soundsystem, “Shut Up and Play the Hits.”

Hot Chip is a bit of a hot topic because they go way back with sweetgreen. Hailing from London, England, the electro-pop DJ set headlined the first Sweetlife Food & Music Festival in 2010. Located in a parking lot at Dupont Circle, local food vendors, contests, and live music attracted a crowd of approximately 700 people.  Fast forward two years, Sweetlife Festival 2012 grew to 17,.000 attendees on two stages at Merriweather.

Three years later, Hot Chip is co-headlining a national tour at the most legendary venue in the DMV area, Merriweather Post Pavilion, and we’re right there with them. Live the sweetlife with us and snag tickets for this sensational summer show here:
